Pescadero Food Scene

El Coyote in Pescadero Mexico

Off the beaten path at El Coyote

Todos Santos has many offerings, but if you want to step outside and hit some dirt roads, Pescadero is a great spot for some top notch dining experiences. It’s just a short distance from Todos Santos—in between Todos and Cerritos.

Some reminders for dining out in the area:

  1. Check to make sure the restaurant is open. This has happened to us on several occasions when we look at Google and think, OK, cool it’s open—and nope, it’s not. Check Facebook and Instagram or call to make sure they are open. And even then, sometimes you might get it wrong, so we encourage living into that Baja lifestyle and pivot to another option.

  2. Make a Reservation. Some of the popular spots can fill up and you definitely don’t want to miss out. So, when in doubt, make a reso.

  3. “Baja Midnight” is 9pm. Places close pretty early, there isn’t much nightlife in Todos area, so make sure you get there early.

  4. Cash or Card. Most places take credit cards these days, but some food carts and smaller shops might be cash only, so best to come prepared.

Let’s get into the good stuff and talk about some of our favorite Pescadero places (in no particular order).

Hierbabuena

“Plant it. Grow It. Eat it” is the Hierbabuena motto. An open air restaurant sort of in the middle of no where off a dirt road. This hidden gem is one of our favorite places. Its farm to table goodness appeases our foodie side, yet is simple enough for our teenager to love. Food options range from wood fired pizzas to grilled fish entrees. This is a place not to be missed.

El Coyote

Good food, Airstream food truck, beachy chic vibe off the hidden path, what more could you ask for? This gem is located within the El Perdido resort and is a really fun place to visit with an incredible staff and beautiful calm scenery. They offer a range of options from salads, fresh fish and seafood, and my personal fav, wood fired pizzas. This is also off a dirt road and somewhat hidden, so make sure you google ahead of time.

KATA

If you are in the mood for sushi, sashimi, ceviche or anything Asian flared paired with a lovely cocktail, this is the spot. This under the radar, yet crowd pleasing restaurant is a must try. The fish served is what was caught that day. Be careful as you might miss it—it’s not so obvious from the outside, so make sure you pay attention. They also have a location in Todos Santos, so you have options.

Agricole Cocina de Campo

We have always loved the Agricole Grocery Store (their chile rubbed tortilla chips and fresh salsas are what we live for), but then they went and opened a restaurant! Cocina de Campo has even found their way into the Michelin guide! It’s a Mexican style menu with a California twist. From fresh tomatoes to fresh fish and steak tacos, this is a gardener’s delight. Sip on a cocktail and embrace the lush greenery that surrounds you at this innovative spot.

Same Same but Different

Sometimes you want an avocado toast and smoothie to satisfy that healthy breakfast craving. Same Same but Different is sure to satisfy that itch. This cozy breakfast spot is perfect for those early surf mornings or a place to relax and get some work done. Not only is it a lovely cafe, but it’s a place where you will see many local entrepreneurs collaborating and coming up with creative ideas to better their community. This is a true local gem of a spot.

CRUDO

Crudo is known for their fried chicken, beet salad, and spicy margaritas. This hidden spot off of Baja Beans road is a local (and tourist) favorite. Comfort food at its finest, in a humble atmosphere. This is a cash only establishment, so don’t forget your pesos.

Terramar Cantina

This is a spot we have our eye on. Being vegan, they have an entire section on the menu for veggie forward customers! Woot! But they also have options like pizzas, tacos, and more. They serve brunch, lunch and dinner—so pick your flavor. They also bring in some live music, be sure to check out the schedule.

Pescadero62

This is another spot we haven’t hit up yet, but have heard rave reviews (I mean they have a 4.9 rating on google—woah!). When you are in the mood for a solid burger and fries, I’ve heard this is where you go. They also serve tacos, seafood, entrees and more. Grab yourself a craft brew on tap or a natural wine and call it a night out.

That’s our Pescadero food scene round up—I am sure there are places that I haven’t touched upon, but these are some of our go-to’s when we are feeling up for a little adventure outside of Todos. We couldn’t be luckier to have such amazing food options near us—it’s a serious farm (and sea) to table kind of town.
