Playa Los Mangos

Playa Los Mangos is our local beach located in Las Tunas. It is named for the many fruit trees that grow along the road to the coast. There is a path by our house that will take you to this glorious, mostly empty beach. It’s about a 15 minute walk.

Playa Los Mangos is well known for a turtle hatchling release program. A conservation group, Tortugueros Las Playitas, operates a turtle encampment here. After a female sea turtle lays a nest, she returns to the sea, leaving the eggs vulnerable to predators and poachers.  In Mexico, conservation groups monitor and relocate nests to a safe enclosure until the eggs hatch.  Tourists and locals can help with baby turtle releases during the release season from December thru March.

Within minutes you will be walking on a beach pretty much by yourself. This is not a swimming beach, but a walking, sunset and whale watching kind of beach.

Take in the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean - but the riptides are super strong here, swimming is not recommended.

When you see this sign near our house, you know that the beach is just a short distance away.

Peek a boo views of Playa Los Mangos from our rooftop. During the whale migration season, you can see humpbacks putting on a show.

Come hang out at Casa Suerte and live that total Baja beach life - where the desert meets the ocean.
